The spike length is 20 - 24 cm, the spike thickness is 5 cm. There are around 18 rows of grains on the spike, and the number of grains in each row is 40. The seed kernels are light yellow, and they turn purple-black after maturity. The plant is semi-compact, with tough stalks.
