Grow Dwarf Teddy or “Dwarf Sungold” Sunflowers from fresh Helianthus annus flower seeds. Dwarf Teddy (Dwarf Teddy Bear) will produce double, 10 inch, fluffy blooms in a golden yellow color. Dwarf Teddy Sunflowers will grow to a mature height of only 2 feet tall. They are categorized as an annual flowering plant that grows quickly, blooms profusely and later dies with the first killing frost. Seeds from the large flower heads can be collected for resowing the following year. But make sure to protect them with scare crows, otherwise other wild animals will be looking out for them as well.

Sunflowers are among one of the easiest plants to establish from fresh flower seeds. They don’t take very long to germinate, need little to no care, and aren’t too picky on soil conditions. Dwarf Teddy makes an excellent cut flower for bouquets and floral arrangements as well. SOWING ADVICE
Seeds are surface-sown or covered only slightly. Do not allow the soil to dry out. Containers are held in warm conditions until sprouts appear, which may take anywhere from 3-10 days. Move sprouting plantings immediately to bright light conditions, such as a south-facing window. Inadequate light is a frequent cause of failure of young seedlings. At about the time of last frost, set out seedlings into grow bags. Plants need staking and side-shoots removing.
